Miss You

"Miss you."
Two words, written on the back of a picture.
Long since forgotten, recently discovered.
That faded, slightly tattered picture of a girl.
The words, definitely in her writing.
He remembered that much.
Elegant and beautiful, like the writer herself.
Dark hair, blonde streaks
Like shadows painted through with light.
Eyes reminiscent of Autumn leaves.
Sun-kissed, tanned skin.
Smiling up like an angel captured in time.

He hadn't seen the owner of that face in over seven years.
But still, the fragments of memories drifted through his head.
Images fast and frenzied in a slideshow of flash photography.
Images of good times and bad.
Images of love and hate.
Friends and enemies.

He missed her, too.
If only he could remember who she was.
